IPL, or Intense Pulsed Light, works by delivering specific wavelengths of light into the skin to target various skin concerns. The body's natural healing response is triggered, stimulating the production of new collagen, which helps improve skin texture and tone, and promotes a more youthful appearance.
By adjusting the wavelength and intensity of the light, IPL can effectively target a range of skin concerns such as sunspots, pigmentation issues, vascular lesions, and more.
IPL treatments typically involve minimal downtime. You may experience mild redness or a sunburn-like sensation immediately following the procedure, but these effects usually subside within a few hours to a day. You can resume your normal activities immediately after treatment, and should wear sunscreen with spf protection of 50.
You will need a minimum of three IPL treatments, after pre-conditioning your skin. We offer packages with the treatments and skincare for your convenience. Additional treatments may be needed. The number of IPL sessions needed varies depending on the specific skin concern being treated and individual factors. Typically, a series of three to six treatments spaced a few weeks apart is recommended for optimal results. Your provider will assess your skin and provide a personalized treatment plan during your consultation.
Most clients find IPL treatment to be well-tolerated and describe the sensation as a slight snapping or rubber band-like feeling on the skin. However, individual pain thresholds can vary. We utilize various techniques to ensure your comfort during the procedure.
IPL is a safe and non-invasive treatment, but like any cosmetic procedure, it carries minimal risks. Some possible side effects include temporary redness, mild swelling, or minor skin irritation. These effects usually resolve quickly. It's important to follow any pre-conditioning recommendations and aftercare instructions provided by your skincare professional to minimize any potential risks.
IPL can effectively treat a wide range of skin types. However, it may not be suitable for individuals with very dark or heavily tanned skin due to the risk of pigmentation changes. During your consultation, our skincare professional will evaluate your skin and determine if IPL is the right treatment option for you or recommend alternative solutions if necessary.
We perform IPL treatments year round on our patients, provided that their skin has been properly pre-conditioned with approved medical grade skincare.
We recommend committing to an IPL treatment plan to ensure that your skin has no tan or spray tan, and to not expose it to further sun damage, and remaining on medical grade skincare regimen to prolong results and prevent future damage.
